It was on CouchSurfing, I found this gem. Floor, A young enthusiastic women from the Netherlands in her 20s traveling solo around the world, meeting people.
She sent me a request for stay. But I couldn’t host her. Instead we went for a hangout. Met her from Fort Kochi. She was just like her name. A flower ready to bloom. She was holding a Ukulele, painted beautifully by artists she met on her way.
Meetings became a regular thing. I fell in love with her enthusiasm and excitement to explore the not much explored places. We had a lot of similarities, I would say. That helped us a lot while traveling together.
We both enjoyed the places we went together, the food we had, the events we attended and everything in between.
Musics and Books became a part of my daily life. I liked her Ukelele so much and decided to learn it. She promised me to teach it too.
She left to Puttur for a volunteering work in a couple of days. And i was left alone.
We used to whatsapp updates. And also Puttur is a place very much familiar to me since I did my engineering in Mangalore, A nearby city.
I received a text from Floor in 3-4 days,
Come back, I replied.
Are you serious, she asked.
Why not? I answered.
And she came back. We both were planning for a project together. After years of traveling, her mind is also asking her to settle down and build something.
“A Hostel” – That’s what came to both our minds. But where?
Should be calm, should have good climate, should be green, we need a lot of plants and animals. The list went on.
We were in search for a beautiful location.
Munnar. We shouted!
but when we reached Munnar, We didn’t want a hostel in the city or in a crowded tourist place. So we were brainstorming other places too. Hampi, Kodaikanal, Wayanad and many more places came to mind.
We did some more research from Munnar.
But on the way back from Munnar, We saw a beautiful property in Neriyamangalam. A beautiful Castle.
And she told, If we are building a hostel it should be something like this and it should be in a place somewhere like this.
Why not this, then? I replied in a funny tone.
Hahaha. She laughed. No chance. But let’s have a look. Floora added.
We went inside. Woowww!! Beautiful. But the place looks abandoned.
When enquired with the shopkeeper nearby, he told the property is for rent.
That was the moment we understood, this is our hostel.
We met the owner in a few hours. He is working in district court. And we transferred the security deposit. Got the agreement ready on the very next day.
This was the quickest acquisition I ever had in my life so far. It was a love at first sight scenario. haha.
